How it Works

Following is a brief outline of how the selection process works and where the monies will go:

All donations will be given to Southeastern CT area charities, non-profits and/or worthy causes serving our area only. No national charities will be considered, unless a local chapter is under consideration. Our purpose is for the contributions to benefit our community entirely.

Three charities, non-profits and/or worthy causes will be offered for consideration at each meeting. These will be recommended by members and then randomly selected from a hat at the time of the meeting.

Each of the three selected charities, non-profits and/or worthy causes that are under consideration will be given five minutes to make a presentation. These presentations can only be given by the member of PoT2 whose name was chosen from the hat, not by the charity, non-profit, and/or worthy cause, or by any other PoT2 member.

The group will vote by ballot, and simple majority rules.  Although the recipient may not be your first choice, you are still obligated to make your donation.

If you make a presentation and your charity is not chosen, you will still be eligible to put your name in the drawing at any future meetings.  If your charity is chosen, that organization could again be eligible for consideration after one calendar year.

For tax purposes, all checks will be made out to the chosen organization. If you are unable to attend, give your blank check to a member to deliver on your behalf, or mail a blank check in beforehand.

The charity, non-profit and/or worthy cause agrees to NOT use the donors’ names for future solicitations nor to give the information out to the public. If they do not adhere to this condition, they will be removed from any future consideration.

100% of your donation goes directly to the selected charity, non-profit and/or worthy cause.  All donations are tax-deductible.
